Fundamentals of blood banking in the ABO, Rh and other blood group systems; blood component preparation and utilization; transfusion complications; quality control and problem solving. Laboratories include techniques used in immunology/serology; blood grouping; compatibility testing; and antibody identification. Offered even-numbered springs. Prerequisites: BIOL220. Pre- or co-requisite: BIOL423.
